Australia

Following the demerger from Arrow Energy, Dart Energy re-entered the Australia CBM industry through the acquisition of Apollo gas, an ASX listed CBM company with a portfolio of 7 CBM blocks and 2 geothermal licences, all located in New South Wales.

In August 2009, Arrow Energy acquired a strategic shareholding stake in Apollo Gas Limited, together with the rights to farm-in to two of the company's coal bed methane tenements in New South Wales. The shareholding stake and farm-in rights were subsequently transferred to Dart Energy as part of the demerger from Arrow Energy.  In September 2010, Dart Energy acquired the remaining securities in Apollo Gas, and the company has been rebranded Dart Australia.

Dart Energy submission to Senate Inquiry of CBM in NSW

In July 2011, Dart Energy submitted a paper titled 'The Development of a Coal Seam Gas (CSG) Industry in New South Wales' to the Australian Senate Standing Committee on Rural Affairs and Transport.  The Inquiry is currently reviewing the management of the Murray-Darling basin in NSW.

Dart's paper describes how CSG can bring economic and environmental benefits to the people of regional NSW by providing a low carbon energy source.  That CSG can co-exist sustainably with other land use activities in the Murray-Darling basin in addition to other rural, semi-rural and urban areas, CSG drilling does not impact underground aquifers when undertaken in a safe manner in accordance to existing regulations and the utilisation of this great Australian resource poses little risk to public health.

We Want CSG Campaign by the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association (APPEA)

APPEA has launched a "We Want CSG" campaign to highlight the benefits that CSG brings to local communities, economy and the environment through the development of a clean resource.  The campaign aims to educate people about the facts on CSG as a energy source, how the CSG industry operates and how natural gas plays a role to help reduce greenhouse emissions.  Dart Energy supports this initiative that brings transparency and facts to the debate on CSG.
